News RoomNews ReleasesJOIN BE THE MATCH MARROW REGISTRY AT BLOODSOURCE CENTERS OR ONLINEMather, CA – Northern and Central Californians can save lives by joining the Be The Match registry at BloodSource centers at no cost. Individuals may also register online at www.bethematch.org and use the BloodSource code Month10 (January10, February10, etc). Registrants with diverse ethnic and racial heritage are especially needed. Paperwork, a swab of the inside of the cheek and a good faith commitment to donate to someone in need if you are a match is all it takes to join the Be The Match registry. For those who join online, a swab kit will be sent to the home address. Kasey Bierworth, the mother of three-and-a-half year old Tony, who received a marrow transplant nearly two years ago, comments, "Families with sick children or loved ones are under enormous stress when looking for a donor match. Please join the registry today to save someone like Tony; here today because of someone who joined Be The Match!” Joining the marrow registry and donating blood or blood components such as platelets and plasma, are just two ways of helping patients struggling with life-threatening medical conditions for which a marrow transplant is potentially curative. More information about marrow registry can be found on the BloodSource website www.bloodsource.org or by calling 866-822-5663. *It costs approximately $100 for each new Be The Match registrant. Contributions to support marrow registry are tax-deductible and appreciated. Please call 916.797.4526 or 916.453.3717 if you are interested in making a financial contribution in support of marrow registry. |
